The City of Pella's electric utility exists to provide a reliable and yet affordable power supply to the community, using local generation plants, transmission facilities, and distribution facilities.

The Pella municipal electric utility has been delivering reliable electric service to the community for over a hundred years. The City Council has sole authority to establish rates and charges for electric service, which are provided to customers within prescribed service boundaries established by the state of Iowa. Competition for the provision of electric service areas is not allowed under current Iowa law.
